I’m passionate about helping you grow and Build a healthy lifestyle.

MEET PETE

Born and raised here on the farm, among my earliest memories involve building dens, climbing trees and playing games among our posse of farm kids.

I enjoyed exploring and learning about the wildlife too, igniting a fascination for the natural world and living off the land. From milling our own flour and making bread from the wheat we grew on the farm and ferreting for rabbits to barbecue, it was an adventurous and wholesome childhood.

I went on from school to study Agriculture and play competitive senior rugby which kept me active and strong. However, as time went on my body struggled to cope with the demands expected of it. Years of poorly balanced nutrition and too much alcohol, lack of quality sleep and recovery all contributed to increased inflammation and the subsequent breakdown of my joints.

Following a diagnosis of osteoarthritis and facing future hip replacement(s) in the coming years, I struggled mentally and lacked the knowledge, skills and motivation to stay fit and healthy. Despite successes in my work life, I found myself becoming increasingly unhappy and demoralised.

During the Covid-19 pandemic I discovered podcasts. On listening to real stories of those who’d overcome their difficulties to conquer extreme challenges, I was inspired to get moving again and experienced a shift in mindset.

The hardest part of exercise, for me, remains the thought of it, and the pain that comes with getting started. These first steps are always the hardest. Fortunately, as I started to improve my lifestyle and nutrition, little by little, layer by layer, month by month, I have built a routine which enables me to do the things I love most.

From adventure racing, gravel bike riding, group training gym classes, swimming and triathlons, I am now back enjoying my fitness and exploring the wide outdoors again.

Exercise serves me in multiple ways, from losing the unwanted excess weight, to completing fun challenges among friends and generating natural endorphins from intense workouts and the benefits of cold water swimming, my body is now holding firm.

What drives me? To help others and be a positive role model for my children and supporting my wife and family in the best way I know possible.

“I strive to keep moving, keep learning, remain open minded and work to challenge and better myself”

And so back to the farming business, how do I best preserve and sustain the farm’s legacy and continue to operate in an increasingly challenging and complex environment?

To diversify. With qualifications in personal training and experience, I have chosen to help others unearth their potential and become their fitter, healthier and more connected self. I believe with the right support targeted in the right areas, everyone has the power and ability to build on where they are right now.

“Whatever your challenges, I value your health as your wealth and my promise to you is to help you cultivate and grow this best version of you“

Our focus at Fitness Farmyard is creating the best possible experience and value for our clients who then enjoy improving their health, fitness and feeling of better well-being. It’s hard to put a value on the results and rewards you’ll experience.

HOW I can help.

HIIT Farmyard 45

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) consists of short bursts of intense work intervals (typically between 15 seconds up to 3 or 4 minutes long) where you're working as hard as you can. Short rest periods of recovery (between 15 seconds and 2 minutes long) break up the work  intervals. Work intervals involve the full range of movement patterns giving you an effective full body workout.

Perfect for all levels of fitness and strength as can be tailored accordingly, requires determination and effort.

Classes take place both within the studio (indoors on rubber matting) and yard space (outdoors on concrete), or field (outdoors on grass)

The HIIT workout is typically 30 minutes long with the additional class time allocated to warmup and cool down.
